Distinguished House of Wedgwood
Botanical Tea Set
- Hand Decorated Fine Bone China
- Gift Boxed
It was in 1812, some years after the death of the founder of the company, Josiah Wedgwood I (1730-95), that the Etruria factory began to make the bone china body. Not surprisingly, Josiah II considered his ware to be far superior to the production of most other potteries.
Among the earliest Wedgwood bone china production were tea sets in shapes much favoured at that time of great elegance.
Floral patterns on teawares were as popular then as they are now, and this tea set is based on the original designs of that era, with the floral pattern inspired by the work of the French artist, Jean Pillement (1728-1808).
